What is Bacterial Gastroenteritis?
Bacterial Gastroenteritis is also know as various other names such as Infectious diarrhea - bacterial gastroenteritis; Acute gastroenteritis; and Gastroenteritis – bacterial. It is an inflammation of the stomach and intestines caused by bacteria. The infection can be caused by Bakery products, Dairy products, Improperly prepared food, Reheated meat dishes and Seafood. There are various bacterias, which can cause the infection such as Campylobacter jejuni, Clostridium, E. coli, Salmonella, Shigella, Staphylococcus and Yersinia.

The latest research conducted by experts indicates that the disease is rapidly increasing in Asia that need to be treated with care. Eating or drinking improperly prepared foods or contaminated water and Traveling or living in areas of poor sanitation have also been proved to be dangerous.

Symptoms


Symptoms Of Bacterial Gastroenteritis
The symptoms of Bacterial Gastroenteritis, are not different from diarrhea. These are mentioned below:

  • Replacing the fluids and electrolytes including salt and minerals that the body loses during the infection
  • Drinking electrolyte solutions to replace fluids lost by diarrhea
  • Eating no solid food until the diarrhea has passed
Antibiotic or antimicrobial therapy is usually not needed unless the rest of the body is affected.
