DefinitionDefinition of Blastoma A blastoma is a type of cancer that is caused by malignancies in precursor cells, often called blasts. Examples are nephroblastoma, medulloblastoma and retinoblastoma The suffix blastoma is used to imply a tumor of primitive, incompletely differentiated (or precursor) cells, i.e., chondroblastoma is composed of cells resembling the precursor of chondrocytes. SymptomsSymptoms of Blastoma Blastoma is asymptomatic in its early stages, meaning symptoms do not display themselves at the onset of the disease. People who have blastomas typically experience pain, weight loss and lethargy. They may feel tired all the time due to languor. Patients also complain of impaired vision and impaired hearing, and their liver and spleen might enlarge and grow in size. Other symptoms are neurological.
