Silvery hair syndrome is a rare genetic condition marked by a partial nonexistence of pigmentation in the eye, skin and hair; cluster of pigmentation in hair shafts, immunodeficiency and neurological manifestations.

Symptoms

Individuals with Silvery hair syndrome present some of the following symptoms:

1. Pigment clusters in hair streaks
2. Periodic and intermittent Neutropenia
3. Accumulation of melanosome in melanocytes
4. Very low blood platelet level
5. Declined level of gamma globulin in blood
6. Repeated infections
7. Enlarged liver
8. Enlarged spleen
9. Lack of all the different types of blood cells (pancytopenia) due to hemophagocytic syndrome
10. Neurological regression
11. Fever
12. Jaundice
13. Loss of skills that are formerly gained
14. Seizures
15. Reduced reflexes
16. Involuntary movement of the eye often described as shaky or wiggly(nystagmus)
17. Muscle coordination failure known as ataxia
18. anemia
